dan_acc: how's the recovery going?
yabba_hh: not bad, only 1 site currently offline ( that I give a fuck about ) but I need to rehome it to uk or germany ( needs a linux box ) ... and then I might rehome my blog
yabba_hh: you wanna know the ultimate irony?
dan_acc: what?
yabba_hh: the ultimate irony : out of all the sites mine is the most damaged ( not the irony ), and I've lost most of 6 weeks post
yabba_hh: but
yabba_hh: because I made fuck all posts in the last 6 weeks they're all on my "homepage"
yabba_hh: and
yabba_hh: I happened to have tested it in ie, so I have it in temp internet files
yabba_hh: so, ie actually has a use .... guts me to say that
dan_acc: wow
yabba_hh: yeah I know
dan_acc: you're resurrecting your posts from IE's cache
yabba_hh: don't ever tell anyone .... promise?
dan_acc: agreed
yabba_hh: *phew* thanks mate, where should I send the bribe?
dan_acc: add that to the list of beers you're going to buy me when I pop into Blackpool next

Well, I've been quiet this last month because I've been a smidge of a busy bunny playing with servers. After melting a cpu and slightly toasting it's replacement on one server I then had to start migrating our server in the USA and as this also involved an OS change things were a tad complicated. The situation improved rapidly when a certain person ( Whoo shall remain nameless
) managed to firewall the new box ........ so well in fact that even the technicians couldn't get in and they had to re-install .... anyway, I got a day off so it wasn't all bad
Once we finally got back in, and I bankrupted Nick, I then had to try and move everything from one box to another ...... made slightly easier with the 10Mbs transfer rate
..... mind you, that just meant I could cockup faster .... about the fourth time round I managed to remember most sites, hey there was 18 of them huh? ..... so now that majority of the sites are on the new server, and mostly intact and running the same way they used to, I should get time to play with some code ...... that moment was shortlived.
After gaining some space on a new server for a project that Scott and I are working on, I set to work playing with code ...... briefly ...... I soon realised that the server the space was on wasn't good enough, yay, another migration .... and yet another one that involved moving a whole account. The good news was it wasn't me who had to do all the migration as it's not one of our dedi boxes. Whilst all this was going on Lycos decided that they prefer to live in the dark ages and so I also had a server to cleanup and shutdown .... mind you, I bet the cpu will be glad that I'm no longer toasting it.
To totally round off my month the FG decided to bring out the latest release of b2evolution ..... fantastic, now I have a forum full of bugs to work through ...... roll on summer when I can wander back into the field, this winter stuff's a bit to much like hard work!
Lets hope your month's been quieter
..... ohhh and don't even mention the window, the garden or the bloody fence ![]()
