Well, it's a week later and true to form England spent more time looking like a bloody puddle than it spent looking like a piece of land As you can imagine, bimbling in shorts and walking on water are vastly different abilities, and there wasn't much call for bimbling. So what did we manage to get done ?
This weeks major achievement was the total lack of pissed off neighbours sticking their heads over the fence and venting some of their pent up frustrations......... I wonder if they realise that I can't hear them over the radio ? What with the sky and the ocean swapping locations for the majority of the week and the total lack of entertainment from the neighbours we actually had a boring week........mind you that boredom did involve watching Steve trying to kickstart a chainsaw with profesional aplomb 88|
Unless you're blind, you can't help but notice the fact that I managed to get the photos off my phone and onto the web. They're not exactly Lord Litchfield but they're better than nothing and at least give you a sense of the space that I'm obliged to bimble round........damn it's a tough life.
Despite the extreme lack of bimblable (lol, bet I have to add that one to the spell checker ;)) moments, and surving Steve's moments of aplomb, we managed to entertain ourselves by seeing just how close you could fell a tree, without actually hitting the aforementioned neighbours fences..... hell we should have just knocked them down, it would have made it far easier for them to vent their appreciation without having to clamber over their fence first...... pretty sure they wouldn't share that opinion though.
We also finished doing the basic prep of the beds....ie, making sure that the soil was back in them.....yeah, we're really technical like that ... so we've sent the soil off to be tested. Contrary to the actual weather, we may still need to flood the beds before we use them this year as we didn't get enough rain over winter to do the job for us.
You'll be pleased to know that due to the lack of bimblable moments I had a lot of free time to spend working on the blogs.... so I invited a few mates round and we had a party instead, an excellent use of resources it was too (you had to try the honey glazed pork to truly appreciate the wisdom of the decision). I did however, get them on the front page of a search engine called Link Centre as a partner site, they're also linked on most of the other pages as well...... mind you, it was a tad easy since it's owned by Nick. We've already had some hits from these links so that means even more people who're gonna have psychological problems after reading these blogs.....damn the things we do for the NHS.
As you can see from all of these wonderful photos (yeah, yeah, give me a break, it's only a camera phone), the beds are bare, the greenhouse is roofless, the trees have gone and the seedlings are coming on a storm. Pretty much the opposite will be true in a few weeks, the beds will be full, the greenhouse will be roofed (the small greenhouse will have had a new roof put on as well), the trees will still be gone and the potting shed will be pretty much empty....... and I'll still be in my shorts :]
I'll get a list of all of the dahlias we're growing this season and create a category for each of them some time this week. As I said last week, there's a load of new ones to play with and I'm going to try and do a photo journal of each them throughout the season. At the moment it's pretty pointless since they're all basically "small an green" (for those of you who are now thinking he's not a gardener I refer you to my previous post and specifically to the section that starts
Firstly I am not a gardener
For those of you who've got this far down this post, I think you may need to see a doctor about your insomnia, I've fallen asleep five times whilst writing it ..... mind you, I bore easily.
That's about it for this week. I decided, that due to the fact that we unsuccessfuly play russian roulette with the weather, that it would be better to post about what we actualy managed to do in the week, rather than all the stuff we plan to do. So, until next week, you'll have to use something else to put you to sleep ;)
Have fun

It's a hard life having to bimble around all summer in my shorts looking after dahlias
