I'd like to touch upon the subject of attitudes and methods, when it comes to coding, that are rife amongst amateur coders ... usually the sort that call themselves a "webmaster". They get on the big wide web, and it's full of bells and whistles and new toys, and they just want to have them all. So they produce a website using tables (when it'd be far easier and bandwidth friendly to use divs), they have flash buttons (to achieve a rollover effect that could be achieved with css), they use javascript effects (quite a few of which can be reproduced with just css), they also tend to produce fixed width sites (because they're easier) and usually their site only works in IE6 (although a few hours with a validator could cure most of that).
Ok, I might sound like a bitch, but let me tell you why I find all of the above appalling.
Keywords : [keys][webmaster] [xhtml] [css] [cross-browser] [wai] [javascript][/keys]

Damn, today should have been a "happy day", but a friend of mine lost a whole set of his online journals after the server it was hosted on went tits up ..... now, I know that most of the visitors here are spammers ( I only count y'all to make my stats look good), but I also know that a fair few of y'all are "real paople", so I'd like to make the following plea :-
If any of you can help Scott find any of the following posts, then you'd make more than one persons day.
Quote :
Yabba knows all about this, but we lost our whole PCT journal. We've found 8 of the 42 entries, but have yet to find the rest. Below, are the journal entry titles, and what we've found. IF you can help us find entries, we would be forever grateful.
The pages used to be hosted at our pct host and our our rands host, till a massive HDD failure.

Continuing my recent trend of actually doing some work on my own site for a change, I've now moved my blog over to my own web addy. For those of you that subscribe to my feeds, you might like to update your links to http://www.innervisions.org.uk/babbles/, the old links will continue to work, so if yer a lazy arse then don't worry, I can still bore yah.
You will of course have noticed that I've added a random poem box to the top right of my pages, hell if I can't be arsed showing them why the hell should anyone be arsed reading them? Anyway feel free to delve into the poetic depths of my psychosis whenever you need to feel that YOU are normal.
Of course, you'll also have noticed the big red button just below the random poem box. This shows my websites Sitescore, which is a tad low at the moment but will hopefully improve as my blog move settles down. If you want to help my ratings then go vote for InnerVisions and help get my gaudy little showpiece to the top.
Over the comming few weeks I'm hopefully going to get my basic art galleries finished, I mainly just need to sort out an upload page that will create a thumbnail and do a few tricks with the main images. I'm going to be offering all of my artwork as free wallpapers at all screen resolutions from 800x600 to 1600x1200, of course, that involves me coding the download thing as well.
Once I've got my galleries and the main parts of the main site finished I'm eventually going to have time to create my 3d galleries which you'll actually be able to walk round! Damn that's gonna be cool, I've ben waiting 2 years just to get started on them!
AstonishMe completed it's second website last week, the new skin(s) for SoftwareAndTools.com were created by Danny/Personman and we think he's produced a blinder. It'll be interesting to hear what other people think of it.
Anyway, I feel that most of you will have expired by now, so wake up cos I'm off

Damn, I finally got my art board set up again after it spent a couple of years sulking in the garage. Next I'll have to get my stool out of the attic and buy some new pens and pencils. It'll be cool to get back into doodling, it's one of the most relaxing things in the world, and I haven't felt inclined for far, far , far to long.
Other good news in bimboland, the days are getting longer ..... well, technically they're the same length, they just have a longer period between the dark bits ...... and we've even had a few days when it hasn't rained!! Damn, i might just have to dust off the trusty old shorts ready for growing season :D
Just to get you all totally excited, I've also managed to get me a digital camcorder thing, so now I can innundate you with loads of photos of the field without having to wait for Lord Litchfield Ash to turn up. Bet yah can't wait huh? On top of that, if I can ever work out how, I'll be able to upload videos as well ......how cool ..... anybody wanna be a porn star?
Geeky news, you'll be suprised to hear that my quest for world domination, well, the bit of the world that includes being number one in google(uk), is going a tad slowly. Ahhh well, they won't have to filter my website in China then huh?
Even more geeky news, mainly because it's a tad hard to have bimbling bimbo news in winter. AstonishMe completed it's first website as a team (Ohio Boating). This is just the beginning, we're already working on the next site, out of 5, for the same client. I can't wait until we show them what we've got planned, it's truly going to blow them away. We've also got another site that's almost ready for public release as well, and a couple of others on the horizon ....... one of which is about a woman who reads backsides for a living ..... you think I kid? Go vist psychic Sam's current website ...... and they call [b]me[/b] wierd!! :|
Other bimbo news, my mates just had a baby girl ...... well, his wife had the baby obviously ...... she weighs about 7 stone, has a full head of blonde hair and all her teeth ...... dunno about the baby, I think it came in as "small and squealing". Anyway, [b]CONGRATULATIONS Pete and Wench, and baby Wenchette[/b] :D
Well, I'm gonna wander off and leave you in peace now, so have fun,

Well, I finally got the chance to convert my gaudy old skin over to the new version of the blogs. Don't know about you lot, but I happen to like my tacky little pad ...... and I'm the one who codes the skin, so you're kind of stuck without an opinion .... of course, if you feel strongly about my tacky little pad then feel free to leave a comment with your views .... I might even pay attention.
If you're using Interdebt Exploiter then things might look groovy for a while until I get round to writing in all the crap needed so that IE can understand the terms XHTML and CSS. Until then you have three choices, 1/get a better browser, 2/ put up with it, or 3/ leave .... of course, if things are groovy enough, then you won't be able to see this post.
Other stuff that's happened recently, not that y'all care, it's just because the new version has a word count for posts, so I want to see if I can reach 500 words ....... those of you that know me are probably thinking "can you say that little?" .... anyway, other stuff....
I'm going to be starting a site with [stk], it's going to be kind of a merger of my dev blog and his fluffy article style on his blog ..... damn, that's gonna confuse the natives.... with a bit of luck, and a hell of a lot of effort, we intend to make the new website a source for plugins, skins and tutorials for [b2evo] as well as articles on other stuff such as XHTML and CSS, and other geeky acronyms.
Other geeky news ..... yeah, yeah, I know, you're not interested, it's just for the word count .... I'm sure there'll be more blonde news further down ;) .... anyway, other geeky news ....
I've been working on recoding a search engine called [elsie] for the last few months, she's not open to the public yet so no link I'm afraid, and she's finally starting to look like she can answer questions ....... which is a hell of an improvement on the Mighty V who just goes "urm" and then wanders of to some blonde place in her head ....... anyway, back to Elsie ...
I'm hoping that Elsie is going to be a very different experience from your normal search engine, whilst retaining all the functionality that you expect from one ....... I'll soon know, we're expecting just short of half a million visitors a month within a few months of going live ...... damn, that's gonna test my code !!! ... I'm sure she'll stay on her feet *crosses fingers ...... buys lucky rabbits foot for extra insurance*
Blonde news ...... don't get excited, I haven't actually got any, it just means more words .... urm .... sheesh ..... urm ...... I wonder if "......." counts as a word? ..... urm ... I'm still not top for pond pumps in google (uk), no suprise there then, but I have had 1,332 unique visitors to my
and still not a single request for a link a day email .... it's a damn shame the spammers don't give a toss about stats that prove their worth.
Talking of my spam trap, I must appologise to those of you out there who link to it. The image died for a couple of days when I was testing the new blog software because I forgot to copy the image across. Obviously it's now back and I'll remember in the future.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've hit my 5,00 word target, so I'll stop boring you now

Ok, just to keep you all in the picture. There's a few teething problems with the new software running on the setup that we have. I am working on trying to cure these problems, but it may take a while as the software as a whole is still being debuged.
Your posts/comments etc are safe so don't worry if you get some funky error messages.
If any of you find any errors that I haven't noticed then feel free to berate me. I already know about the post preview problem, but figure that Steves blog could do with a nudge ;)
Anyway, as always, have fun,
¥
*edit*
The preview problem is now cleared
